Tools Required For The Project
To make a professional TV stand, you would require the right carpentry tools. Some of these tools can be obtained from your local store. The following are the Carpentry Tools you will need:
- Safety gloves, glasses, miter saw, jigsaw
- Chalk line, tape measure, spirit level, carpentry pencil
- Drill machinery and drill bits
The first step in building your TV stand is to Build The Frame. We recommend you to use 1 x 20 lumber and then use pocket screws to hold them in place. Drill the pocket holes at the ends of the side components and insert 1-1/4 screws.
Install the shelves inside the frame using 1 x 18 lumber. Drill holes at both ends of the board and fix it to the side walls with the screws. Make sure to adjust the height to suit your needs before attaching the shelf to the back edges of the frame.
Attach the back of the TV stand using Plywood. Ensure the corners are square and add glue to the joints. Carefully align the edges before fixing the nails.
Improve the look of your TV stand by building four legs from 3×3 or 2×2 lumber and attaching them to the frame. Drill holes through each of the four legs. Fix them to the bottom of the TV stand using screws.
Build the doors for your TV stand. Use the 1 x 2 lumber to build the frames and then fix them together using the screws. Drill holes at both ends of the vertical components and place the 1-1/4 screws into the perpendicular components. Ensure all the edges are aligned, and the corners are square.
Install the glass onto the frame of the wooden door. Ensure the corners are straight and at a right angle to each other. Use strong clips to attach the glass to the frames.
Fix the doors into place. You can do this by attaching them to the frame with metal hinges. Make sure to install door knobs that perfectly match the decor of your furniture.
What is The Final Step?
Your TV stand is almost ready, but not without applying the crucial finishing touches. You will have to fill the holes with wood putty and then leave it out to dry for several hours. Make sure to use medium-grit sandpaper to smooth the surface of your TV stand.
To further improve the look of your TV stand, make sure you apply several coats of paint to the wooden components. This would help to protect your TV stand from decay and ensure it lasts longer.
Finally, don’t forget to clean the surface of your TV stand with a dry cloth to get rid of any dirt or stains.
